Lions Give Back: The Big Event 2025
More than 250 volunteers came together on Saturday, March 29, for The Big Event—East Texas A&M University’s largest day of service. This annual tradition, formerly known as Operation Blue & Gold, continues to grow as a campus-wide effort to serve residents, nonprofits and community organizations.
From yard work and painting to beautification projects and neighborhood cleanups, students, faculty, and staff made a big difference at more than 25 worksites. Worksites included neighborhood homes, the City of Commerce Animal Shelter and the Commerce Public Library.
Organized by the Office of Student Engagement, this initiative reflects the university's collective commitment to improving local spaces and strengthening the bond between the university and the Commerce community. It's an opportunity for participants to build leadership skills, connect with fellow Lions, and make a lasting impact.
